#15 The Way To Get More Money

The magician shows a $5 bill front and back and says: “Here is the way to get more money.” The magician folds the $5 bill once, twice, three and four times and then blows on the bill. When the bill is unfolded once, twice, three and four times, it is now a $10 bill that is shown front and back. Now, that is a magical way to get more money!…and easy to do!!

There are many different ways to transform one bill into another. What I like about this one, is that there is nothing extra to be hidden away, just the two bills.

The other thing is that it doesn’t have to be bills. Two different coloured pieces of paper can be used instead. I would suggest that you cut the pieces of paper to the shape of bills and as I did in the video, go to a dollar store and get a couple of pads of paper of different colours.

You’ll also need some glue, staples or double-sided tape to hold the bills together.

So, just follow the steps in the video for the folding- half, half again, one third up from the bottom and one third down from the top. Fold both exactly the same, then turn one over and stick them together. If you are going to use staples, just unfold both bills and place them against each other back to back, with one upside down and staple near the edge in the centre of the bill. Then fold one bill up and you are ready to perform.

(I’m left handed so if you are right handed reverse the hands I use in the following description)

Start with the lower denomination bill open and the larger folded behind your left hand held by the left thumb. To show both sides, you let go of the open bill with right hand, go behind the open bill and place your fingers on the folded bill. Rotate the open bill, so you can place your right thumb on the front of the open bill. Next, slide your left hand along the length of the open bill, thumb behind and fingers in front. The audience now sees the back of the open bill and the folded bill is hidden behind your right fingers. To go back, do the reverse. Your left hand lets go of the open bill and goes behind the open bill and place your left fingers on the front of the open bill. Rotate the open bill and place your left thumb on the folded bill. Next, slide your right hand along the length of the open bill, thumb behind and fingers in front.

Now for the transformation: With your right hand, fold the front of the open bill onto itself in half to the left. Again with your right hand fold the open bill in half onto itself again. With both ring fingers fold the bottom third of the open bill up. With both index fingers, fold the top third of the open bill down. Simultaneously, blow on the bills and flip them over. With both index fingers, fold up the top of the folded bill. With both ring fingers, fold down the bottom of the folded bill. Slip your left fingers into the middle of the folded bill and with your right fingers pull the folded bill half open. Finally, slip your left fingers into the middle of the folded bill again and with your right fingers, pull open the whole folded bill open between your hands. Show the front and back of the second bill as described above for the first bill.

It is so complex to write instructions for sleight of hand manipulations. So, please read the above as you go back and watch the video and practice, practice and practice and I’m sure you’ll be ready to perform this money making Magic!!
